“#whateverittakes #2020” deals with being in the pandemic, being in lockdown, being isolated, being indoors, being at home and the shock all of these bring. As well as a will to live, to survive, no matter what. Much like nature does. No matter what happens, no matter how much concrete is poured, plants and nature still find a way through the cracks. This is a performative projected piece born out of the necessity to not only survive but to thrive. It was meant to be a fuel for motivation, inspiration, and strength. It consisted of videos, music videos and images not created but curated by me. The images were deliberately projected in a home setting with an interplay created between the images, music and objects that were “in the way”. This work also brings together the physical setting and the online setting. Parts from the piece were broadcast online, through private means and social media channels. Both because it is and was the reality of the situation and also as a criticism or observation of how integrated the world wide web and social media channels are in our lives, and how much we depend on them throughout the pandemic and our current lives. There is no recording of the event.
