Yasemin duru

Yasemin B. Duru (they/them), is a multicultural interdisciplinary visual artist. Currently based in Vienna, Yasemin has personal ties to Turkey, Germany, Australia and continues to work with colleagues from around the world. 

Yasemin has a BA in Visual Arts and Visual Communications Design from Sabanci University, Istanbul and is currently studying Digital Arts at die Angewandte in Vienna. Yasemin has also taken courses from The Animation Workshop, Viborg and from the Academy of Visionary Art, Vienna. 

Yasemin has been, and continues to be active in various collectives and groups, focusing especially on environmetalism, lgbtqia+ rights, education, empowerment, and spirituality. 

Yasemin has worked with a wide range of materials and techniques to create works in the form of paintings, photographs, sculptures, and installations. Themes explored in Yasemin’s work typically include perception, alternate states, and nature. Yasemin is especially fascinated by immersive works involving mirrors, light, and sound. Yasemin is an avid meditator and is a synesthete. 

Yasemin is currently the Audio Visual Director of the Physical Theater Company Side Effect and is responsible for stage design, objects, light, and sound. 

Yasemin is also a -wearer of many hats- assistant for the ViTra Academy (as well as crew member for the Vision Train) and has been assistant to prolific painters such as Stefan Lucas, Michael Fuchs, and Amanda Sage. 

Yasemin sometimes does tarot performances and additionally is part of multiple other artist collaborations while continuing their own body of work.
